Engagement Concerns: No Reverse

ENGAGEMENT CONCERNS - NO REVERSE

Possible Component Reference/Action
202 - ROUTINE 
Transmission Fluid   
  • Incorrect level
  • CHECK the transmission fluid level. ADJUST transmission fluid to correct level. REFER to PRELIMINARY INSPECTION .
Selector Lever Linkage   
  • Selector lever linkage - damage or incorrectly adjusted
Powertrain Control System   
  • PCM (gasoline engines), Transmission Control Module (TCM) (diesel engines), external vehicle harness, transmission internal harness, Shift Solenoid D (SSD)
  • DISCONNECT the transmission harness connector and retest. If the concern is still present, proceed to Main Control inspection. If the concern is resolved, CARRY OUT the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) and Key ON Engine Running (KOER) self-test. For gasoline engines GO to PINPOINT TEST A . For diesel engines GO to PINPOINT TEST F . REPAIR as required. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the vehicle system for normal operation.
Pump   
  • Pump gear - failure
  • VERIFY line pressure. If line pressure is below specification, INSTALL a new pump assembly. REFER to TRANSMISSION - OVERHAUL .
Main Control   
  • Defective direct (3, 5, R) clutch or low/reverse (1,R) clutch regulator valve
  • Defective direct (3, 5, R) clutch or low/reverse (1,R) clutch latch valve
Clutch Plates   
  • Direct (3, 5, R) clutch or low/reverse (1,R) clutch friction and steel plate - failure
  • INSPECT the direct clutch and/or the low/reverse assembly for damage.
