Test 5: Electric Fuel Pump Pressure: Purpose

The purpose of this test is to determine if there is sufficient fuel pressure for starting.

Electric Fuel Pump Pressure

After verifying that there is fuel in the tank and the pump is being powered, measure at the fuel filter housing with a 0-160 psi (0-101 mPa) gauge.
Key on, engine off - pump will run for 20 seconds. Pressure should be at least 45 psi (310 kPa).
If pressure fails low, replace both fuel filters and retest.
