Test Ab: Control Illumination Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform all voltage and resistance tests using a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
- Turn headlight switch to ON position. If all exterior lights operate properly, go to next step. If any exterior lights do not operate properly, repair as necessary. For EXTERIOR LIGHTS system circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, test system for normal operation.
- Turn headlight switch to OFF position. Disconnect headlight switch 9-pin harness connector C205.See Figure. Remove headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Test headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If headlight switch is okay, go to next step. If headlight switch is not okay, replace headlight switch. After repair, test system for normal operation.
- Install headlight switch and reconnect harness connector C205. Turn headlight switch to ON position. Rotate headlight switch thumbwheel to brightest position. Measure voltage between ground and output side of fuse No. 37 (5-amp), located in Central Junction Box (CJB). CJB is located behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit in Dark Blue/White wire between headlight switch terminal No. I1 and input side of fuse No. 37. For INTERIOR LIGHTS circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, test system for normal operation.
- Repair open in CJB output circuit (Light Blue/Red wire) between CJB and instrument cluster. For INTERIOR LIGHTScircuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, clear DTCs, repeat self-test and check system for normal operation.
