Test U: Door Ajar Indicator Is Inoperative

  1. Operate interior lights by opening and losing all doors and liftgate. If interior lighting system functions correctly, go to next step. If interior lighting system does not function correctly, see INTERIOR/ILLUMINATION LIGHTS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C809. See Figure. Disconnect Central Junction Box (CJB) connector C15. See Fig 1. Measure resistance between terminal No. 24 (Black/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector and terminal No. 15 (Black/Blue wire) at CJB harness connector C15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Blue wire and retest.
  3. Connect a 5-amp fused jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 15 (Black/Blue wire) at CJB harness connector C15. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate go to step  5.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect a 5-amp fused jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 23 (Black/Blue wire) at CTM harness connector C1000. Turn Ignition switch to RUN position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, replace CTM and retest. If door ajar light does not illuminate, replace CJB and retest.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for corrosion, pushed out pins and connectors that are not connected properly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Configure replacement instrument cluster, see appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If problem does not exist, then system is operating properly at this time, clear any DTCs and retest.
