Test Q: Safety Belt Indicator Is Always On (Chime Is Operative)
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect CTM connector C1000. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If safety belt indicator turns off after 6 seconds (prove out), replace CTM and retest. If safety belt indicator remains on after 6 seconds, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect CJB connector C11. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If safety belt indicator turns off, replace CJB and retest. If safety belt indicator remains on, repair short to ground in Black/Blue wire and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C809. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 18 (Black/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Blue wire and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for corrosion, pushed out pins and connectors that are not connected properly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Configure replacement instrument cluster, see appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If problem does not exist, then system is operating properly at this time, clear any DTCs and retest.
