Test P: Safety Belt Warning Indicator Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly (Chime Is Operative)
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Central Junction Box (CJB) connector C11. See Figure. Connect a 5-amp fused jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black/Blue wire) on harness side of CJB connector C11. If safety belt indicator Illuminates, go to step 3. If safety belt indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C809. See Figure. Measure resistance between terminal No. 5 (Black/Blue wire) at CJB connector C11 and terminal No. 18 (Black/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in (Black/Blue wire) and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect CJB connector C11. Disconnect Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1000. If safety belt indicator illuminates, replace CTM and retest. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . If safety belt indicator does not illuminate, replace Central Junction Box (CJB) and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for corrosion, pushed out pins and connectors that are not connected properly. Repair any damage found and reconnect any loose connectors. Operate system. If problem still exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Configure replacement instrument cluster, see appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If problem does not exist, then system is operating properly at this time, clear any DTCs and retest.
