Test Ai: Instrument Cluster Inoperative (Bi-Fuel Only)
- Disconnect 2-pin in-line connector C4082 located behind right side of instrument cluster. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between 2-pin in-line connector C4082 (male side) terminals No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) and No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If fuel gauge operates, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not operate, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove dash reset relay from 5-pin harness connector C4204 located in right rear of engine compartment. Perform dash reset relay component test. See DASH RESET RELAY (MINI-ISO) in COMPONENT TESTS. If relay is okay, leave relay removed and go to next step. If relay is not okay, replace relay. Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect compuvalve 64-pin harness connector C4025. Compuvalve is located in left rear of engine compartment, on top of engine. Remove dash reset relay from 5-pin harness connector C4204 located in right rear of engine compartment. Disconnect 2-pin in-line connector C4082. Measure resistance between specified circuits. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CIRCUITRY RESISTANCE table. If resistance values are less than 5 ohms, between compuvalve 64-pin harness connector C4025 and dash reset relay 5-pin harness connector C4204, and between dash reset relay 5-pin harness connector C4204 and 2-pin in-line connector C4082, and more than 10 k/ohms between ground and specified terminals, go to next step. If resistance values are more than 5 ohms, between compuvalve 64-pin harness connector C4025 and dash reset relay 5-pin harness connector C4204, and between dash reset relay 5-pin harness connector C4204 and 2-pin in-line connector C4082 and/or less than 10 k/ohms between ground and specified terminals, repair open or short between appropriate wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CIRCUITRY RESISTANCE

(2) Connector illustration is not available from manufacturer. (3) Test circuit between ground and specified terminal. - Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and compuvalve 64-pin harness connector C4025 terminals No. 9 and 15 (White wires). Measure voltage between 2-pin in- line harness connector C4082 terminals No. 1 and 2 (Red/Yellow wires). If battery voltage is present, repair White and/or Red/White wire(s) for short to power between instrument cluster and bi-fuel module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation. If battery voltage is not present, replace compuvalve. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster to gain access to instrument cluster harness connectors. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Disconnect instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector C250B. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a 10-amp fused jumper wire, measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster 16-pin harness connector C250B terminal No. 6 (Red/Yellow wire). See Figure. If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. Retest system operation. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Red/Yellow wire between instrument cluster and central junction box. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
