Test S: Odometer Inoperative

NOTE: If instrument cluster does not receive odometer rolling count status for 2 seconds, dashes will be displayed in odometer display and ABS warning light will be on.
  1. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If no DTCs were retrieved, go to next step. If DTC U1123 is retrieved, see appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If any other DTCs were retrieved, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Using NGS tester, select ODOMETER READING function test. Vehicle odometer reading should be retrieved in miles and kilometers. If odometer reading is retrieved, go to next step. If odometer readings are not retrieved, replace instrument cluster.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press trip odometer button. Display should change odometer to trip odometer. If display changes from odometer to trip odometer, system is okay. If display does not change from odometer to trip odometer, replace instrument cluster.
