Test G: Speedometer Is Inoperative

  1. Using NGS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If no DTCs were retrieved, go to next step. If DTC U1041 was retrieved, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If any other DTCs were retrieved, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster SPEEDOMETER COMMAND active command. Trigger SPDOMETER, and scroll in increments of 5%. Monitor speedometer gauge. Speedometer should increase in increments of 10 MPH for every 5%. If speedometer increases within specification, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If speedometer does not increase within specification, replace instrument cluster.
