Test F: Low Oil Pressure Indicator Inoperative

NOTE: Ensure oil level is correct before proceeding with this test.
  1. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Front Electronic Module (FEM) self-test. If DTC B1308 is retrieved, go to next step. If no DTC was retrieved, go to step  4. If any other DTC were retrieved, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using NGS tester, select and monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. If PID reads OK, go to next step. If PID reads NOTOK, replace FEM.
  3. Disconnect oil pressure switch harness connector C169. Monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. If PID reads OK, replace oil pressure switch. If PID reads NOTOK, repair short to ground in Brown/Orange wire.
  4. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. Turn ignition switch to START position. Monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. If PID does not read OK, go to next step, If PID reads NOTOK and changes to OK, go to step  8.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Monitor FEM PID OIL_LVL. Disconnect oil pressure switch harness connector C169. Connect fused jumper wire between oil pressure switch harness connector C169 (Brown/Orange wire) and ground. If FEM PID does not read NOTOK, remove jumper wire, exit FEM PID and go to next step. If FEM PID reads NOTOK replace oil pressure switch. If fused jumper wire blows, remove jumper and go to step  7.
  6. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect FEM 12-pin harness connector C190. Measure resistance between FEM harness connector C190 terminal No. 9 (Brown/Orange wire) and oil pressure switch harness connector C169 (Brown/Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/Orange wire.
  7. Measure voltage between FEM harness connector C190 terminal No. 9 (Brown/Orange wire) and ground. If no voltage is present, replace FEM. If voltage is present, repair short to voltage.
  8. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Monitor low oil pressure indicator. Indicator should illuminate. Turn ignition switch to START position. Monitor low oil pressure indicator. Indicator should remain illuminated for about 3 seconds after engine is started, then turn off. If oil pressure indicator is okay, replace FEM. If oil pressure indicator does not prove out, replace instrument cluster.
