Test T: Tachometer Inoperative

Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, select instrument cluster TACHOMETER CONTROL active command. Trigger TCHOMETER active command. Adjust scroll knob until TCHOMETER reads 50%. Observe tachometer gauge reading. Adjust scroll knob until TCHOMETER reads 100%. Observe change in tachometer gauge reading. Tachometer gauge needle should start at 0 RPM, move to 3500 RPM at 50% and 7000 RPM at 100%. If tachometer operates as specified, check communication between PCM and instrument cluster. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - WINDSTAR article. If tachometer does not operate as specified, replace instrument cluster.
