Test P: O/D Indicator Is Inoperative/Always On

Ensure operation of overdrive function. If overdrive functions correctly, go to next step. If overdrive does not function correctly, repair overdrive system as necessary. See appropriate article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, select instrument cluster WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME active command. Trigger ALL LAMPS active command. Observe O/D OFF indicator light. If O/D OFF indicator light does not illuminate, replace instrument cluster. If O/D OFF indicator light does illuminate, repair overdrive system as necessary.
