Test K: NVM Configuration Failure

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If no DTCs or only DTC B2141 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B2141 and DTC U1147 are retrieved together, perform TEST C: INVALID/MISSING DATA FOR VEHICLE SECURITY  .
  2. Perform security access for PCM. See KEY PROGRAMMING - SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING. Using NGS/WDS tester, select PCM active command KEEP ALIVE MEMORY RESET. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Start vehicle. If vehicle does not start, go to next step. If vehicle starts, system is okay at this time.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using NGS/WDS tester, clear all continuous DTCs. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using NGS/WDS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If no DTCs are not retrieved, system is okay at this time. If DTC B2141 is retrieved, verify PCM calibration is correct for vehicle. If calibration is okay, replace instrument cluster then perform TEST J: SECURITY IDENTIFICATION DOES NOT MATCH BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & PCM  . If any other DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
