Test I: Pats Transceiver Signal Is Not Received

- Using New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1681 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B1681 is not retrieved, system is okay at this time.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect transceiver module harness connector C221. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (White/Light Blue wire) at transceiver module harness connector C221. See Fig 1 . If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 9 volts or less, repair open or short in White/Light Blue wire between instrument panel fuse box and transceiver module.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire) at transceiver module harness connector C221. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/White wire between transceiver module and ground.
- Connect transceiver module harness connector C228. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, backprobe at terminal No. 3 (Gray/Orange wire) at transceiver module harness connector C221. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect transceiver module harness connector C221. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Gray/Orange wire) at transceiver module harness connector C221. If resistance is more than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, check Gray/Orange wire for short to ground and repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster then perform TEST J: SECURITY IDENTIFICATION DOES NOT MATCH BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & PCM .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect transceiver module harness connector C221 (if connected). Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C250. Measure resistance of Gray/Orange wire between terminal No. 7 at instrument cluster harness connector C250 and terminal No. 3 at transceiver module harness connector C221. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray/Orange wire.
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Connect transceiver module harness connector C221. Connect instrument cluster harness connector C250. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, backprobe at terminal No. 4 (White/Light Green wire) at transceiver module harness connector C221. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect transceiver module harness connector C221. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (White/Light Green wire) at transceiver module harness connector C221. If resistance is more than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, check White/Light Green wire for short to ground and repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster, then perform TEST J: SECURITY IDENTIFICATION DOES NOT MATCH BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & PCM .
- Connect transceiver module harness connector C221 (if disconnected). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS/WDS tester, trigger instrument cluster active command RF SIGNAL to ON. Using a voltmeter, backprobe at terminal No. 4 (White/Light Green wire) at transceiver module harness connector C221 while triggering active command from ON to OFF. Voltage should be more than 9 volts in OFF position and less than one volt in ON position. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, check for open in White/Light Green wire between transceiver module and instrument cluster and repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster, then perform TEST J: SECURITY IDENTIFICATION DOES NOT MATCH BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & PCM .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Replace transceiver module. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS/WDS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1681 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B1681 is not retrieved, system is okay at this time.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Replace instrument cluster, then perform TEST J: SECURITY IDENTIFICATION DOES NOT MATCH BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & PCM and return to finish this procedure. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS/WDS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1681 is retrieved, repair White/Light Green or Gray/Orange wire(s) between transceiver module and instrument cluster. If no DTCs are retrieved, system is okay at this time. If any other DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
