Test F: Pats Ignition Key Transponder Signal Not Received

NOTE: Large metallic objects, a second PATS ignition key, or devices such as electronic credit cards on the same key ring may cause vehicle starting problem and possibly set this code. Ensure customers encoded ignition key is an approved Ford encoded ignition key. Encoded keys from Rotunda, Ilco, and Strattec are also approved keys.

Using New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1600 is retrieved, go to next step. If any other DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are retrieved, system is okay at this time.
Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Obtain NEW encoded ignition key(s). Insert NEW key into ignition. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Program key. See KEY PROGRAMMING - ERASE ALL KEYS & PROGRAM 2 KEYS under PROGRAMMING. Using NGS/WDS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1600 is still present, go to next step. If any other DTCs are present, perform appropriate test. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are present, system is okay at this time.
Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Replace transceiver module. Using customers original encoded ignition key, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS/WDS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1600 is retrieved, replace instrument cluster then perform TEST J: SECURITY IDENTIFICATION DOES NOT MATCH BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & PCM . If DTC B1600 is not retrieved, system is okay at this time.
