Test D: Anti-Theft Number Of Programmed Ignition Keys Is Below Minimum

- Using New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1213 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B1213 is not retrieved, repair other DTCs. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Using NGS/WDS tester, monitor instrument cluster PID NUMKEYS. If PID indicates less than 2 encoded ignition keys programmed, go to next step. If PID indicates more than 2 encoded ignition keys programmed, system is okay at this time.
- Obtain NEW encoded ignition key(s). Insert NEW key into ignition lock cylinder. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Program key. See KEY PROGRAMMING - ERASE ALL KEYS & PROGRAM 2 KEYS under PROGRAMMING. If THEFT indicator illuminates for 3 seconds and then goes out, clear DTCs and perform instrument cluster self-test to ensure all codes have been cleared. If THEFT indicator illuminates continuously, repeat this step with a second NEW encoded ignition key. If THEFT indicator flashes, retrieve DTCs for new fault. Perform appropriate test.
