Test T: Incorrect Speedometer Indication

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command SPDOMETER. Trigger, monitor and scroll SPDOMETER at 0%, 50% and 100%. Speedometer should indicate 0 MPH at 0%, middle MPH at 50% and maximum MPH at 100%. If speedometer responds as specified, repair vehicle speed input from PCM (retrieve codes from PCM). See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If speedometer does not respond as specified, replace instrument cluster.
