Self-Diagnostic Test
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester (418-F052) to Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath instrument panel and select proper vehicle from scan tool menu.
- If NGS does not communicate with vehicle, refer to NGS manual and check data link connector. See DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- If DTCs are retrieved, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX table. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST MODE .DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX

(2) Clear DTCs. Repeat self-diagnostic test. If DTC B1342 reoccurs, replace instrument cluster. Configure replacement instrument cluster, clear DTCs and repeat self-diagnostic test. (3) Check ignition switch circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. (4) See appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. (5) Replace instrument cluster. Configure replacement instrument cluster, clear DTCs and repeat self-diagnostic test. (6) Perform PCM self-diagnostic test. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
