Self-Diagnostic Test

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester (418-F052) to Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath instrument panel and select proper vehicle from scan tool menu.
If NGS does not communicate with vehicle, refer to NGS manual and check data link connector. See DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.

If DTCs are retrieved, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX table. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST MODE .

⁽²⁾	Clear DTCs. Repeat self-diagnostic test. If DTC B1342 reoccurs, replace instrument cluster. Configure replacement instrument cluster, clear DTCs and repeat self-diagnostic test.

⁽³⁾	Check ignition switch circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.

⁽⁴⁾	See appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.

⁽⁵⁾	Replace instrument cluster. Configure replacement instrument cluster, clear DTCs and repeat self-diagnostic test.

⁽⁶⁾	Perform PCM self-diagnostic test. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
