Test Ad: Instrument Cluster Is Inoperative (Bi-Fuel Only)
- Disconnect in-line connector C4082 behind right side of instrument cluster. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) and terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) both at in-line harness connector C4082. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If fuel gauge operates correctly, go to step 2. If fuel gauge does not function correctly go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect dash reset relay connector C4204. Carry out relay component test. See HORN RELAY (MINI-ISO) in COMPONENT TESTS. If relay is okay, go to next step. If relay is not okay, replace relay and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect compuvalve connector C4025. Measure resistance as specified in DASH CIRCUITRY RESISTANCE table. Measure resistance between ground and the following: terminal No. 15 (White wire) at compuvalve harness connector C4025; terminal No. 9 (White wire) at compuvalve harness connector C4025; terminal No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) at in-line harness connector C4082 and terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) at in-line harness connector C4082. If resistance values are 5 ohms or less, between compuvalve connector C4025 and dash reset relay and between dash reset relay and in-line connector C4082 and if resistance values are more than 10 k/ohms, between compuvalve connector C4025 and ground and in-line connector C4082 and ground, go to next step. See Figure. If resistance values are more than 5 ohms, between compuvalve connector C4025 and dash reset relay, and between dash reset relay and in-line connector C4082. Repair open in affected wires. If resistance values are less than 10 k/ohms, between compuvalve connector C4025 and ground and in-line connector C4082 and ground, repair short to ground in affected circuits and retest.DASH CIRCUITRY RESISTANCE

Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 15 (White wire) at compuvalve harness connector C4025, terminal No. 9 (White wire) at compuvalve harness connector C4025, terminal No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) at in- line harness connector C4082 and terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) at in-line harness connector C4082. If battery voltage is present, repair affected circuit for short to power and retest. If battery voltage is not present, replace compuvalve. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CNG/LPG article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C250b. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a 10-amp fused jumper wire, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 11 (Red/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster connector C250b. If battery voltage exists, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Yellow wire and retest.
