Removal & Installation

NOTE: ABS control module can be replaced separately if it is determined to be cause of a problem. If Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) is faulty, it must be replaced along with ABS control module Electric Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner and EVAP canister (if necessary for clearance). Disconnect brakelines from HCU. Plug HCU ports and brakelines. Disconnect connectors from ABS control module. Remove mounting nuts (motorhome) or bolts and remove HCU.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure.
  3. Tighten mounting nuts to 19-25 ft. lbs. (26-34 N.m). Tighten outside brakelines to 11-14 ft. lbs. (15-20 N.m). Tighten inside brakelines to 16-21 ft. lbs. (22-28 N.m). Tighten brakelines to master cylinder to 11-14 ft. lbs. (15-20 N.m).

  4. Bleed system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
