HCU Bleeding

CAUTION: The anti-lock brake system must be bled using the following procedure. If this procedure is not followed, air will be trapped in electronic Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), resulting in a spongy pedal. This procedure only needs to be performed if HCU is replaced or HCU lines have been opened.

Perform conventional bleeding procedures first. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM in appropriate DISC & DRUM article. Turn ignition off. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to vehicle data link connector. Follow instructions in tester. After bleeding HCU, repeat conventional bleeding procedures.
