Test L: Soft, Hard Or Excessive Pedal Travel: Testing
- Inspect brake hoses, brake lines, and fittings from HCU to wheel cylinders. If needed, repair or replace components. Test system for normal operation. If brake system is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove rubber caps from HCU low pressure accumulators located on rear of HCU. Insert a paper clip into each low pressure accumulator. See Fig 1. Have an assistant press hard on brake pedal while watching paper clips. If paper clips move significantly, replace HCU. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation. If paper clips do not move significantly, remove clips and replace rubber caps. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation.
