Test E: No Power In Run Position

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ignition switch 15-pin connector. Measure voltage between ignition switch 15-pin harness connector terminals B1 (Yellow wire), B3 (Yellow wire), B4 (Light Green/Violet wire) and B5 (Light Green/Violet wire) and ground. See Figure. If all voltage values are greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If any voltage value is not greater than 10 volts, repair open circuit in suspect circuit. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Test system for normal operation.
  2. Remove and test ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If ignition switch tests okay, go to next step. If ignition switch does not test okay, replace ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Test system for normal operation.
  3. Turn ignition off. On Excursion, remove fuse No. 5 (10-amp) from junction box/fuse relay panel, located behind access panel to left of steering column. On F250-F550, remove fuse No. 27 (10-amp) from junction box/fuse relay panel, located behind access panel to left of steering column. On all models, remove fuses No. 8 (5-amp) and No. 24 (10-amp) from junction box/fuse relay panel, located behind access panel to left of steering column. Turn ignition on. On Excursion, measure voltage between input cavity of fuses No. 5 (Red/Black wire), No. 8 (Black/Light Green wire) and No. 24 (Gray/Yellow wire) and ground. On F250-F550, measure voltage between input cavity of fuses No. 8 (Black/Light Green wire), No. 24 (Gray/Yellow wire) and No. 27 (Red/Light Blue wire) and ground. If all voltage values are greater than 10 volts, verify customer concern by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table. If any voltage value is not greater than 10 volts, repair open circuit in suspect circuit. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Test system for normal operation.
