Ignition Switch

  1. To inspect ignition switch for mechanical operation, rotate lock cylinder through all switch positions. Lock cylinder should not bind, and should return from START to RUN position without assistance. Replace ignition switch as necessary.
  2. To test electrical function of ignition switch, disconnect ignition switch connector. Check continuity between specified switch terminals using a self-powered test light or ohmmeter. See IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY  table and Fig 1. If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Switch Position Continuity Between Terminals
Start B5 & I1; B4 & STA
Run B5 & I1; B1 & A1; B3 & A3; B4 & A4
Accessory B5 & A1
