Test W: Wait To Start Indicator Is Inoperative (Diesel)

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector C1027. See Figure. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 70 (Black/Pink wire) at PCM harness connector C1027. If WAIT TO START indicator illuminates, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V (DIESEL) article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If WAIT TO START indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C250c. Measure resistance of Black/Pink wire between terminal No. 1 at instrument cluster harness connector C250c and terminal No. 70 at PCM harness connector C1027. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Pink wire and retest.
  3. Remove WAIT TO START indicator light bulb. Test bulb for continuity. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If bulb is not okay, replace bulb.
