Trouble Shooting

Verify customer's concern by observing indicator and gauges to determine correct operation. Check the following items before proceeding with testing:

• Fuse No. 2 (15-amp) and No. 14 (5-amp) in central junction box.
• Fuse No. 4 (10-amp) in engine compartment battery junction box.
• Damaged wiring.
• Loose or damaged harness connectors.
• Stuck gauge needle.
• Tripped inertia fuel cut-off switch.
• Damaged vehicle speed sensor.
• Low oil level.
• Damaged oil filter or oil pump.
• Damaged fuel solenoid(s).
• Tripped inertia fuel shutoff switch.
• Engine oiling system function.
• Cooling system function.
• Charging system function.
• Fuel delivery system function.

Repair or replace as necessary. If no problems are found on natural gas vehicles, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM . If no problems are found on diesel or gasoline vehicles, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
