Removal & Installation (Econoline)

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove 2 front and 2 rear stone shield retaining bolts. Remove stone shield. Remove 8 fuel tank support strap bolts. Remove fuel tank support strap. Disconnect fuel tank balance tube from rear fuel tank solenoid valve.
- Disconnect electrical connectors and high-pressure fuel line from fuel tank shutoff solenoid valve. Remove fuel tank shutoff solenoid valve. See FUEL TANK SHUTOFF SOLENOID VALVE . Install Powertrain Lift and Tilting Plate (014-00765 ) assembly under tank. Secure fuel tank assembly with a nylon tie-down. Remove front fuel tank assembly retaining nuts. Remove rear fuel tank assembly retaining bolts. Carefully lower fuel tank assembly from vehicle. Remove fuel tanks from fuel tank assembly.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate new "O" ring with 5W-30 engine oil. After installation is complete, fuel lines must be leak tested.
