Pinpoint Test G: Testing

- G1 CHECK FOR DTCs
- Connect the scan tool.
- Key in ON position. Retrieve the ABS module DTCs.
- Any DTCs present?
- Yes : If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, GO to the ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ABS MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX to continue diagnosis.
- No : GO to G2.
- G2 CARRY OUT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ABS WARNING INDICATOR ACTIVE COMMAND
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster Active Command.
- Select the instrument cluster INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL active command.
- Command all warning lamps ON then OFF.
- Does the yellow ABS warning indicator continue to illuminate?
- Yes : GO to G3.
- No : GO to G4.
- G3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.
- G4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the ABS connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect the ABS connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ABS MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
