Pinpoint Test A: Testing

CAUTION: Use the flex probe kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
  1. A1 VERIFY THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL AND THE DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC) CONNECTOR 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect the diagnostic tool, if connected.
    • Reconnect the diagnostic tool to the DLC.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Retrieve and document continuous DTCs.
    • Are any DTCs present? 
  2. A2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE ABS MODULE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the ABS module C135 pin 2, circuit 534 (YE/LG), harness side and ground; and between the ABS module C135 pin 32, circuit 533 (TN/RD), harness side, and ground.

    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to A3.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. A3 CHECK THE ABS MODULE GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between the ABS module C135 pin 16, circuit 530 (LG/YE), harness side and ground; and between the ABS module C135 pin 45, circuit 530 (LG/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK to continue diagnosis of the communication network.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
