Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Partially drain coolant. See COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING  under COOLING SYSTEMS. Disconnect Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor connector. Remove ECT sensor.
  2. NOTE: If ECT sensor is reused, apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon® (D8AZ-19554-A), meeting Ford specification ESR-M18P7-A to threads.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Fill and bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM FILLING & BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEMS.
