Cooling System Draining

  1. Allow engine to cool and remove radiator cap. Raise and support vehicle. Remove engine splash shield. Place a suitable container below radiator draincock. Disconnect coolant return hose at oil cooler, if equipped. Open radiator draincock. Remove left and right side cylinder block drain plugs to drain coolant from cylinder block. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
  2. Remove bolts retaining coolant expansion tank and remove and clean coolant expansion tank. Position coolant expansion tank and install bolts. Remove engine air relief plug. See Fig 3. When coolant is completely drained, install left and right side cylinder block drain plugs. Close radiator draincock. Lower vehicle.
