Signal Function

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2004 Ford RV Cutaway, 2004 Ford Pickup, 2004 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2004 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2004 Ford Excursion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The injector control pressure is determined by the injection pressure regulator (IPR). The IPR is a variable position valve that controls injection control pressure. The powertrain control module (PCM) uses many input variables to determine the desired control pressure.

Battery voltage is supplied to the IPR when the ignition is in the ON position. Valve position is controlled by switching the output signal circuit to ground. The ON/OFF time is modulated from 0% to 65% dependent upon the desired control pressure.
