  • No communication with the 4x4 module (PCM)
  • Scan tool.
  • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse 18 (20A).
  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse 24 (15A).
  • Power supply:
    • 729 (RD/WH).
    • 994 (WH).
  • Ground circuits:
    • 570a (BK/WH).
    • 570b (BK/WH).
    • 570c (BK/WH).
  • 4x4 module (PCM).
  • Charging system.
  • The vehicle does not shift between 4WD Auto and 4H correctly
  • 4WD indicator(s).
  • Transfer case.
  • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse 15 (15A).
  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse 12 (5A).
  • 4x4 module (PCM).
  • Circuits:
    • 359 (GY/RD).
    • 779 (BN).
    • 780 (DB).
  • Mode select switch (MSS).
  • Transfer case clutch.
  • Powertrain control module (PCM).
  • Ignition switch and/or circuitry.
  • CAN communication network.
  • Instrument cluster (IC).
  • The 4WD indicators do not operate correctly/do not operate/flash
  • Instrument cluster.
  • 4WD system fault.
  • CAN circuits.
  • 4x4 Module (PCM).
  • Straightline driveline wind-up
  • Unmatched tire sizes.
  • Unequal amounts of tire wear.
  • Unequal tire inflation pressures.

  • The vehicle does not shift between 4WD auto and 4L correctly
  • Battery junction box (BJB) fuses:
    • 8 (30A) - 4x4 motor
    • BJB fuse 15 (15A) - PCM
    • BJB fuse 18 (20A) - 4x4 module (PCM)
    • BJB fuse 17 (5A) - transfer case clockwise (CW) and counterclockwise (CCW) relay coils.
  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse 12 (5A).
  • Transfer case CW relay.
  • Transfer case CCW relay.
  • The neutral tow does not operate
  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse 24 (15A).
  • 4x4 module (PCM).
  • Neutral tow system indicator.
  • Vehicle security module (VSM).
  • Transmission range (TR) sensor.
  • Brake ON/OFF (BOO) switch.
  • Door ajar switch.
  • Circuitry.
    • Circuits 782 (BN/WH) and 1001 (WH/YE).
  • Ignition switch.
  • The transfer case makes noise
  • Tire inflation pressure.
  • Tire and wheel size.
  • MAKE SURE that all tires and wheels are the same size and that the inflation pressures are correct.
  • Tire tread wear.
  • CHECK tire tread wear to see if there is more than 0.15 mm (0.06 in) difference in tread wear between front and rear. INTERCHANGE one front wheel and one rear wheel. ROAD TEST again.
  • Internal components.
  • OPERATE the vehicle in all transmission gears. If there is noise in the transmission in NEUTRAL, or in some gears and not in others, REMOVE and REPAIR the transmission. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 5R55S . If there is noise in all gears, DISASSEMBLE the transfer case. refer to TRANSFER CASE - ELECTRONIC SHIFT . CHECK the planetary gears, the bearings, the upper and lower drive sprockets and drive chain for damage. INSTALL new parts as necessary.
  • Fluid level.
  • The vehicle binds in turns/resists turning/pulsates/shudders in a straight line
  • Unmatched tire sizes.
  • Unequal amounts of tire wear.
  • Unequal tire inflation pressures.
  • Unmatched front and rear axle ratios.
  • Unable to duplicate customer concern
  • 4x4 indicators.
  • 4x4 module (PCM).
  • Transfer case and related components.
  • Wheel/tire assemblies.
