Line Pressure Test Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mazda B4000, 2003 Mazda B3000, 2003 Mazda B2300, 2002 Mazda B4000, and 2002 Mazda B3000. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Connect scan tool to vehicle to monitor engine RPM. Remove line pressure tap. Connect pressure gauge to line pressure test port. See Fig 1. Start engine and maintain 1000 RPM. Apply service and parking brakes. Check line pressure in all gears. See LINE PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS table.
- If line pressure is not within specification, disconnect line pressure gauge and reinstall tap. Remove Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) pressure tap. See Fig 2. Connect pressure gauge to EPC pressure test port. Start engine and maintain 1000 RPM. Apply service and parking brakes. Check pressure in all gears. See EPC PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS table.
- If EPC or line pressure is not within specification, perform TEST D: EPC SOLENOID under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If EPC pressure is okay, see LINE PRESSURE TEST RESULTS .
