Rear Wheel Bearing and Axle Shaft Oil Seal - Semi-Floating Axle: Installation

  1. If removed, lubricate the new rear wheel bearing with the specified axle lubricant.
  2. CAUTION: Install the rear wheel bearing with the identification numbers facing outward.
    CAUTION: Do not cock the rear wheel bearing in the axle tube.

  3. Using the special tools, install the rear wheel bearing.
  4. CAUTION: Do not cock the wheel bearing oil seal in the axle tube.
    NOTE: The following step shows an alternate method for installing the wheel bearing oil seal.

  5. Using the special tools, install the new wheel bearing oil seal.
  6. CAUTION: Do not cock the wheel bearing oil seal in the axle tube bore.
    NOTE: This step is an alternate method for installing the wheel bearing oil seal. Carry out this step if wheel bearing oil seal installation was not done in the previous step.

  7. Using the special tools, install the new wheel bearing oil seal.
  8. Lubricate the cavity between the wheel bearing oil seal lips and the rear wheel bearing with grease.
  9. Install the axle shaft. For additional information, refer to AXLE SHAFT - SEMI-FLOATING AXLE .
