Pinpoint Test Ar: The Wipers Are Inoperative - Rear Wipers
- AR1 CHECK THE REAR WIPER MOTOR GROUND CIRCUIT
- Disconnect: Rear Wiper Motor C476.
- Measure the resistance between the rear wiper motor C476-5 circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to AR2
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AR2 CHECK THE REAR WIPER MOTOR VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Measure the voltage between the rear wiper motor C476-6 circuit 56 (DB/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to AR5
No
GO to AR3.
- AR3 CHECK BEC FUSE 55 (25A) FOR VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: BEC Fuse 55 (25A).
- Measure the voltage between the BEC fuse 55 (25A) input terminal and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to AR4
No
INSTALL a new BEC. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AR4 CHECK CIRCUIT 56 (DB/OG) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: BEC C1035a.
- Measure the resistance between the BEC C1035a-F10 circuit 56 (DB/OG), harness side and the rear wiper motor C476-6 circuit 56 (DB/OG), harness side; then between the BEC C1035a-F10 circuit 56 (DB/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the BEC and rear wiper motor and greater than 10,000 ohms between the BEC and ground?
Yes
INSTALL a new BEC. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AR5 CHECK THE REAR WIPER MOTOR MODULE (INTERNAL) VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the rear wiper motor C476-8 circuit 406 (BN/WH), harness side and ground
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to AR8
No
GO to AR6.
- AR6 CHECK SJB FUSE 7 (10A) FOR VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: SJB Fuse 7 (10A).
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the SJB fuse 7 (10A) input terminal and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to AR7
No
GO to AR10.
- AR7 CHECK CIRCUIT 406 (BN/WH) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280h.
- Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280h-5 circuit 406 (BN/WH), harness side and the rear wiper motor C476-8 circuit 406 (BN/WH), harness side; then between the SJB C2280h-5 circuit 406 (BN/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the SJB and rear wiper motor and greater than 10,000 ohms between the SJB and ground?
Yes
GO to AR10
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AR8 MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH COMPONENT TEST
- Carry out the multifunction switch component test.
Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for schematic and connector information.
- Did the multifunction switch pass the component test?
Yes
GO to AR9
No
INSTALL a new multifunction switch. Refer to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- Carry out the multifunction switch component test.
- AR9 CHECK CIRCUITS 485 (PK/BK) AND 488 (DG) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the rear wiper motor C476-4, circuit 488 (DG), harness side and the multifunction switch C202b-3, circuit 488 (DG), harness side; then between the rear wiper motor C476-3 circuit 485 (PK/BK), harness side and the multifunction switch C202b-4, circuit 485 (PK/BK), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms on both circuits?
Yes
INSTALL a new rear wiper motor. Refer to REAR WINDOW WIPER . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AR10 CHECK FOR CORRECT MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the SJB self-test.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
