Symptom Chart

SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • No communication with the smart junction box (SJB)
  • Circuitry.
    • SJB.
  • Both headlamps are inoperative
  • Smart junction box (SJB).
  • The low beams are inoperative
  • Headlamp switch
  • Multifunction switch.
  • Smart junction box (SJB).
  • CARRY out the headlamp switch component test.

    Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for schematic and connector information .

    • If the headlamp switch is OK, INSTALL a new SJB. Refer to SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the headlamp switch is not OK, INSTALL a new headlamp switch. Refer to HEADLAMP SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The high beams are inoperative
  • Circuitry.
  • High beam relay.
  • Multifunction switch.
  • Bussed electrical center (BEC).
  • Smart junction box (SJB).
  • One low beam headlamp is inoperative
  • Circuitry.
  • Bussed electrical center (BEC).
  • Smart junction box (SJB).
  • One high beam headlamp is inoperative
  • Circuitry.
  • REPAIR circuit 1335 (YE/WH) (RH high beam) or 1337 (VT/YE) (LH high beam) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The headlamps are on continuously
  • Circuitry.
  • High beam relay.
  • Bussed electrical center (BEC).
  • Smart junction box (SJB).
  • The flash-to-pass feature is inoperative
  • Multifunction switch.
