Symptom Chart

SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • The reversing lamps are inoperative
  • Circuitry.
  • Digital transmission range (TR) sensor (automatic transmission).
  • Reversing lamp switch (manual transmission).
  • Smart junction box (SJB).
  • The individual reversing lamp is inoperative
  • Circuitry.
  • MEASURE the resistance between the inoperative reversing lamp connector pin 1, circuit 57 (BK) harness side and ground.
    • If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, REPAIR circuit 140 (BK/PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the resistance is not less than 5 ohms, REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The reversing lamps are on continuously
  • Circuitry.
  • Digital transmission range (TR) sensor (automatic transmission).
  • Reversing lamp switch (manual transmission).
  • DISCONNECT the digital TR sensor C167 (automatic transmission) or the reversing lamp switch C169 (manual transmission).
    • If the reversing lamps continue to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 140 (BK/PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the reversing lamps do not continue to illuminate, INSTALL a new digital TR sensor or reversing lamp switch. REFER to TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS or MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION accordingly. TEST the system for normal operation.
