Pinpoint Test D: No Power In Start

  1. D1 CHECK THE STARTER OPERATION 
    • Key in START position.
    • Does the starter motor engage? 
    1. Yes  : GO to D2.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. D2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
    • Measure the voltage between the ignition switch C250 pin B4, circuit 37 (YE), harness side and ground; and between ignition switch C250 pin B5, circuit 37 (YE), harness side and ground.

    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? 
    1. Yes  : GO to D3.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. D3 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    • Carry out the ignition switch component test

      Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for schematic and connector information.

    • Does the ignition switch test OK ? 
    1. Yes  : REPAIR circuit 32 (RD/LB) or circuit 1050 (LG/VT). TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
