Pinpoint Test K: The One-Touch Up/Down Feature Is Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- K1 CHECK FOR POWER (B+) LOSS DURING FRONT WINDOW OPERATION NOTE: If window motor has one-touch-down operation with no one-touch-up operation and has been initialized, the smart window motor will need to be replaced and initialized.NOTE: The smart window motors are not on the multiplex link.NOTE: A new smart window motor will be in proportional up/down mode until initialized. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION .NOTE: The smart window motor must be initialized whenever: the motor has been removed, a new motor is installed, a new window regulator is installed, a new window glass is installed, a new top run is installed and when carrying out any operation in which grease or lubricants are applied to the window system.
- Verify if power (B+) (circuit 30-AJ80 {RD/OG} {LH front}, circuit 30-AJ71 {RD/YE} (RH front})was lost during front window operation.
- Was power (B+) lost during front window operation?
- Yes : RAISE the front window to the fully closed position. MAKE SURE the window glass stalls into the upper header seal. Normal functionality should resume. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to K2.
- K2 INITIALIZE THE FRONT WINDOW MOTOR
- Key in ON position.
- Carry out the front window motor initialization procedure. Refer to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION .
- Are the one-touch up/down functions operating correctly?
- Yes : Repair is complete. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to K3.
- K3 CHECK THE FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Front Window Control Switch.
- Carry out the front window switch component test.
Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .
- Did the front window control switch pass the component test?
- Yes : GO to K4.
- No : INSTALL a new front window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- K4 CHECK THE FRONT WINDOW SWITCH TO FRONT WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUITS
- Disconnect: Front Window Motor C524/C608.
- For the LH front window motor, measure the resistance between the LH front window motor C524-3, circuit 7S-AJ41 (YE/BK), harness side and the LH front window control switch C504b-5, circuit 7S-AJ41 (YE/BK), harness side; and between the LH front window motor C524-1, circuit 8-AJ42 (WH/GN), harness side and the LH front window control switch C504a-11, circuit 8-AJ42 (WH/GN), harness side; and between the LH front window motor C524-4, circuit 7S-AJ40 (YE/GN), harness side and the LH front window control switch C504a-5, circuit 7S-AJ40 (YE/GN), harness side.
- For the RH front window motor, measure the resistance between the RH front window motor C608-3, circuit 7S-AJ47A (YE/BK), harness side and the LH front window control switch C504a-3, circuit 7S-AJ47 (YE/BK), harness side; and between the RH front window motor C608-1, circuit 8-AJ56 (WH/GN), harness side and the LH front window control switch C504a-2, circuit 8-AJ56 (WH/GN), harness side; and between the RH front window motor C608-4, circuit 7S-AJ48A (YE/VT), harness side and the LH front window control switch C504a-9, circuit 7S-AJ48 (YE/VT), harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new front window motor. REFER to DOOR WINDOW GLASS - FRONT . INITIALIZE the window motor. REFER to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit (s) as necessary. INITIALIZE the front window motor. REFER to DOOR WINDOW MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
