Pinpoint Test Ad: The Integrated Circuit Display Is Inoperative

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
- AD1 VERIFY THE INTEGRATED CIRCUIT DISPLAY OPERATION
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster Active Command.
- Select the instrument cluster DISPLAY SEGMENT CONTROL II active command.
- Trigger the SEGMENTS active command.
- Do all of the segments illuminate?
- Yes
: If the PRNDL is inoperative, REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 5R55S
.
If the odometer is inoperative, Go To PINPOINT TEST K: THE ODOMETER IS INOPERATIVE .
If the warning center display is inoperative, GO to AD2.
- No : GO to AD4.
- AD2 MONITOR THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Key in ON position.
- Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps ON position.
- Monitor the exterior lighting.
- Do all exterior operate correctly?
- Yes : GO to AD3.
- No : REPAIR the exterior lights. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
- AD3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM BOTH CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS - FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) AND REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE (REM)
- Use the recorded rear electronic module (REM) and front electronic module (FEM) DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-test.
- Are any FEM or REM DTCs recorded?
- Yes : REPAIR the FEM DTCs. REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
- No : GO to AD4.
- AD4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
