Differential Case & Ring Gear - Conventional: Disassembly

  1. Remove the differential case (4204). For additional information, refer to DIFFERENTIAL CASE  .
  2. Remove the bolts.

  3. CAUTION: Take care not to damage the bolt hole threads.

  4. Insert a punch in the bolt holes and drive off the ring gear.
  5. Using the special tools, remove the differential bearings if necessary.

  6. Remove the differential pinion shaft lock bolt.

  7. Remove the differential pinion shaft.

  8. Rotate and remove the differential pinion gears and differential pinion thrust washers.

  9. Remove the differential side gears and the differential side gear thrust washers.
