Test Procedure

  1. TO1 CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTC P0A50: CHECK FOR THE PRESENCE OF DTC P1270 

    Is PCM DTC P1270 present during the self-test? 

    Yes No
    The generator overspeed condition was a result of an engine overspeed.
    REPAIR DTC P1270 before continuing. REFER to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS .    		 GO to  TO2.
  2. TO2 CHECK FOR CORRECT GENERATOR RPM 
    NOTE: Refer to the table at the beginning of this pinpoint test for correct generator to engine RPM correlations.
    • Clear the TCM DTCs.
    • Access the TCM and monitor the G_SPEED and RPM PIDs.
    • Place gear selector lever in PARK.
    • Key ON, engine running.
    • Record the generator RPM at different engine speeds.

    Does the generator RPM correspond with the engine RPM in the table? 

    Yes No
    Unable to duplicate or identify the fault at this time.
    RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS to continue diagnosis.    		 INSTALL a new transaxle assembly.
