Test Procedure

  1. TG1 DTC P1635: CHECK FOR THE PRESENCE OF PCM DTC P1635 
    NOTE: Repair PCM DTC P1635 before entering this pinpoint test.
    • Retrieve the PCM continuous memory DTCs.

    Is the PCM continuous DTC P1635 present during the self-test? 

    Yes No
    This DTC may be generated by the PCM VID block not matching the vehicle hardware.
    DIAGNOSE PCM DTC P1635. REFER to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS .
    GO to  TG2.
  2. TG2 CHECK FOR THE PRESENCE OF ABS DTC B2900 
    • Retrieve all continuous memory DTCs from the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module.

    Is the ABS DTC B2900 present during self-test? 

    Yes No
    Using the diagnostic tool, PROGRAM the VID block. If the PCM does not allow programming of the VID block, REFLASH the PCM. REFER to FLASH ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY (EEPROM) . GO to  TG3.
  3. TG3 CLEAR AND RETRIEVE TCM CONTINUOUS DTCS 
    NOTE: Clearing the TCM DTCs will erase any TCM recorded freeze frame data. Make sure to record any TCM freeze frame information before proceeding any further. Refer to the diagnostic tool instruction manual for freeze frame PID menu.
    • Clear and retrieve TCM continuous DTCs.

    Is DTC P1635 present? 

    Yes No
    This DTC may be generated by the PCM VID block not matching the vehicle's hardware. The concern is no longer present. The concern could not be isolated.
    GO to  TG4. CLEAR the TCM DTCs.
  4. TG4 CHECK THE PCM VID BLOCK FOR CORRECT INFORMATION 

    Is the VID block correctly configured? 

    Yes No
    INSTALL a new transaxle assembly. Using the diagnostic tool, PROGRAM the VID block. If the PCM does not allow programming of the VID block, REFLASH the PCM. REFER to FLASH ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY (EEPROM) .
