Inspection and Verification

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The vehicle should be road tested, if possible, to verify the customer concern. Some clutch conditions may be attributed to a misadjusted clutch pedal height, linkage or shift mechanism. These should be checked and corrected prior to attempting major disassembly procedures. Verify that the transaxle is filled to the correct level with the specified lubricant. Refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION article.
  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical damage.

  4. If the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and Go to Symptom Chart - Clutch Operation .
