Removal & Installation (E150-450 Middle Tank)

- Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain fuel from fuel tank. See FUEL TANK DRAINING PROCEDURE .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Disconnect fuel tank filler pipe and filler vent tube from fuel tank. Position jack under fuel tank. Remove fuel tank support straps nuts. Remove fuel tank support straps. Partially lower the fuel tank.
- Disconnect the following:
- Fuel lines. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS .
- Fuel pump and fuel tank sending unit electrical connector.
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) valve hose(s).
- Fuel tank pressure sensor electrical connector.
Lower fuel tank. If the fuel tank is being replaced, transfer fuel pump and fuel tank sending unit, evaporative emission valves and fuel tank pressure sensor to new fuel tank. See Fig 1.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS.
