Removal (4.6L & 5.4L)

- Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect fuel lines. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS .
- Disconnect fuel pressure vacuum hose and 8 fuel injector electrical connectors. Remove crankcase vent connector and hose.
- Disconnect the following Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) components:
4.6L Engines
- EGR tube from EGR valve and exhaust manifold.
- EGR transducer hoses.
5.4L Engines
- EGR tube from EGR valve and exhaust manifold.
- EGR transducer hoses.
- EGR vacuum hose.
- Disconnect vapor management hose.
- Remove 4 bolts retaining the fuel injection supply manifold and remove the fuel injector supply manifold. Remove injectors from fuel injection supply manifold.
