Removal & Installation (4.2L)

CAUTION:
The fuel injectors are deposit-resistant. Do not clean. Use "O" rings made of special fuel resistant material. Use of ordinary "O" rings can cause the fuel system to leak.
- Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Remove intake manifold spacer assembly. See INTAKE MANIFOLD (4.2L) .
- Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect fuel supply and return line connections at fuel supply manifold. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS .
- Disconnect fuel injector wiring harness connectors and fuel injector electrical harness from fuel injector supply manifold. Remove 4 fuel injection supply manifold bolts and fuel injection supply manifold. Remove 6 fuel injector retaining clips and remove fuel injectors from fuel injection supply manifold.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Inspect and install new fuel injector "O" rings if necessary. Lubricate NEW "O" rings with clean engine oil to aid installation. Tighten fuel injection supply manifold bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
