Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Hood ajar switch
    • Driver door key cylinder
    • Door lock cylinder (part of the driver front door latch)
    • Hood ajar switch
    • Smart junction box (SJB)
    • Circuitry
  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  4. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  5. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool manual
  6. Carry out the data link diagnostics test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • CAN circuits fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    • No response/not equipped for SJB, go to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
    • System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the SJB.
  7. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX .
  8. If DTCs are retrieved that are not found in the following Smart Junction Box (SJB) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index, refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
  9. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to SYMPTOM CHART .

B1519 Hood Switch Circuit Failure SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
B1571 Door Ajar LR Circuit Failure SJB REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING .
B2077 Liftglass Ajar Switch Circuit Failure SJB REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING .
B2100 Door Driver Key Cylinder Switch/Circuit Short to Ground SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
B2902 Decklid Ajar Switch Circuit/Liftgate Glass Switch Failure SJB REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING .
All Other DTCs - SJB REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
