Self-Diagnostic System: Self-Diagnostics

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which may store a DTC if a problem exists in system. DTCs may be retrieved using New Generation Star (NGS) tester or other OBD-II compliant scan tool and Data Link Connector (DLC) for diagnosis of system.

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below driver's side of instrument panel, right of steering column. Using NGS tester, perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - BLACKWOOD article. If NGS tester displays CKT 914, CKT 915 or CKT 70=ALL MODULES NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, diagnose module problem. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - BLACKWOOD article. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Central Security Module (CSM), go to TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH CENTRAL SECURITY MODULE . If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Tonneau Cover Module (TCM), go to . If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Perform self-test for CSM or TCM using NGS tester. Codes listed in tables are only for testing covered in this article.
